Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Leviticus 20:26. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Leviticus 1 - 3 (Going Deeper: Exodus 20:24 & 1 Peter 1:18-19)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Leviticus is commonly thought of as the beginning of “fly-over” territory in the Bible. Not much to see here. Pretty boring. And maybe not even relevant to our lives today. While it can be difficult to understand, this book contains great wisdom for daily living today, even as Jesus has fully met and satisfied the requirements of the law for us. Leviticus was written during the forty years Israel spend wandering in the wilderness. Think about that - forty years. God had freed His people from slavery in Egypt and then, they wandered. Some spent their entire life wandering. And yet, that wasn’t God’s heart for His people. God doesn’t set us free to wander. Instead, God speaks clearly and gives direction. Note that it wasn’t directions to a destination (the promised land), which is what we’re often after. God gave directions for how His people could learn to be people that would be able to inhabit this promised land - or “how to receive and live in God’s place of blessing.” All of this also gives direction for what to do when we wander off again - return to a relationship with God through the sacrifice made once and for all in Jesus. May God give you direction as you follow Him with your whole life.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
