Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Revelation 21:5. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Colossians 1:13-23 (Go Deeper: Colossians 3:1-4, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19, Ephesians 2:11-22 & 1 Corinthians 15:51-57)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Re. Those two letters make all the difference. Put at the front of a word, they often mean “again.” Restore. Redeem. Reconcile. Return. Renew. These words carry with them a sense of going back to an original state, inherent value, or newness. But it’s not the first time. It’s not actually new. It’s new again. This is the gospel. Jesus doesn’t take worthless, sinful, bad people and creation and make them good. Jesus does it again. That’s a different starting point than the gospel many of us may have grown up with or assume. Our starting point is not how bad we are. It’s how good God is and how loved we are. That is our intended purpose. That is our worth. That is our original state. Created by God and loved by Him. It’s what was lost in the fall, and what Jesus opens up the way for us to return to. And it’s only in Jesus because that is where we all started. (Coupons can only be redeemed at the store that made them.) We were created in Him. We are loved in Him. And we are set free, healed, and made alive (again) in Him. Whatever you think, whatever you’ve heard, whatever people are saying about you today, whatever you’ve done… know this. You were loved and valuable first. You still are.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
