Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Ephesians 2:8-9. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Ephesians 2:1-10 (Go Deeper: Romans 3:21-26, Galatians 4:4-7, 1 Peter 1:3-9 & 1:18-19 & John 10:27-30)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Dead doesn’t do. We call a battery “dead” when it has no power left. A tree is “dead” when it can’t produce fruit anymore. And a person is only declared dead when there’s nothing more that can be done. There is no hope in death. If you listen to many self-help guides or (sadly) even some church teachings, one would get the impression that if people simply think differently or try harder we can do better. Life is something we can figure out, find, or accomplish. But the Bible describes the human condition as “dead.” Our spirit is the essence of who we are - mind, body, emotions, personality, etc. Spiritually dead people can’t think differently, try harder, or do better. The only hope in death is to be made alive again. That’s the good news. Ephesians 2:4 says that even though we are dead in our sin (incapable of responding to God and doing good on our own), God brings us to life. It is only from that place that we can do anything. Life can’t be earned. It can only be received, and then it should be lived. If you’ve never received the gift of life from God in Jesus today, try personalizing today’s reading and praying it back to God. Let us know so we can celebrate with you and help you take your next steps toward life in Jesus!
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
CONNECT. Have a question, prayer request, or story? Let us know here or reply via text.
SHARE. Invite a friend to read the Focus with you! Just text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Run the race with endurance today, and stay focused on Jesus.
Make it a Great One!
