Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Romans 5:12. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Genesis 4:1-16 (Go Deeper: Genesis 6:5-6, Jeremiah 17:9-10 & Romans 6:20-23)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Virtually everyone on earth says that it is important, good, and right to love other people. We universally affirm “the golden rule” to treat others as we would be treated - and yet, our world is full of hatred, evil, selfishness, racism, injustice, murder, rape, abuse… the list goes on. It would seem that simply “loving people” isn’t that easy to do. None of us loves others consistently or perfectly. As a result, our relationships and world are broken. But if we all agree loving others is good and want to do it, why don’t we? The Bible teaches that, try as we might, we are incapable of loving consistently and fully because our relationship with God is broken, and the result is sin. When we can’t (or won’t) receive God’s love, it is difficult to have self-love. And when we can’t (or won’t) love ourselves, we can’t love others well. Jesus said the first commandment was to love God with everything you have and are, and the second was to love others. The reason for the order? Because we can’t do the second until we do the first. And we can’t love God until we receive God’s love. We love BECAUSE He first loved us. Receive it today. Then, let your love for others come from the overflow of a fully loved heart.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
CONNECT. Have a question, prayer request, or story? Let us know here or reply via text.
SHARE. Invite a friend to read the Focus with you! Just text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.

Run the race with endurance today, and stay focused on Jesus.
