Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Romans 5:12. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Genesis 3:1-19 (Go Deeper: Deuteronomy 28:15-19, Isaiah 1:4-5 & Romans 5:12-14)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
The Fall is the story of how sin first entered into the world. Because of sin, God’s good creation was broken. Instead of enjoying walking with God, the people He made hid from Him. Instead of enjoying intimacy, shame came between people. And instead of enjoying meaningful work, life got hard. It’s been said that following Jesus is hard… but life in God’s world, following Jesus’ way, is actually easy. Sin makes it hard. What is difficult is choosing God’s easy way. Because of the fall, humans are naturally prone (tempted) to choose the hard (sin) over the easy (life.) That’s because of what the enemy uses to tempt us: doubt, deceit, and desire. Doubt is questioning God’s character, word, and way. We wonder if God can be trusted, is holding out on us. We think we may be wiser. Deception sounds true. It often makes sense. However, there are unintended consequences. Sin will always take us further than we wanted to go, keep us longer than we wanted to stay, and cost us more than we wanted to pay. Desire is the good longings of our heart, pursued in ways apart from God. It wasn’t wrong for Eve to desire wisdom - she just went about getting it all wrong. We all do. Is there an area of temptation you face today? Thank God Jesus took our curse and bore our suffering on the cross, and offers us the easy way of life with Him today.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
