Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Matthew 7:7-11. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Acts 1:4-26 (Going Deeper: Deuteronomy 29:29 & Ephesians 6:18)
THINK. Thoughts & Prayers from Pastor Dave…
Take a moment to imagine yourself praying. What comes to mind? Where are you? Are you alone? What are you feeling? What kinds of things are you praying? You can learn a lot about a person by looking at what, when, where, and why they pray. Similarly, we can learn about the early church by looking at the same things. First of all, the early church prayed with other people. Of course, it’s good to pray alone too - but do you have anyone you pray with regularly? (A spouse? Roommate? Friend? Family Member? At LifeGroup? At church?) The early church had a certain place they met to pray - the upper room. Of course, it’s good to pray anytime and anywhere too - but do you have a special place set aside for prayer, or where you feel close to God? The early church prayed for power from the Holy Spirit in the midst of struggles. Are you specifically praying for God’s power in specific situations and ways? They prayed for purpose - to be witnesses everywhere. Are you covering the people you’ll be with and meet in prayer today? Are you praying for opportunities to show and share Jesus with others? And the early church prayed for peace in decisions. Do you pray before making decisions… or after? Do you pray with anyone about those decisions? Which area do you feel challenged to grow in prayer today?
LIVE. Use these questions to help you reflect on today’s reading. It’s ok if you don’t answer every question every day! Then, try praying in the posture of prayer you read about each day.
1 | Where is prayer present in today’s main passage?
2 | What is happening before, during, or after the prayer?
3 | Is one person praying, or are people praying together? Who?
4 | Which postures of prayer did you notice?
Praying Facedown, Praying while Fasting, Praying while Kneeling, Praying while Mourning, Praying w/ Outstretched Arms, Praying while Sitting, Praying while Standing, Praying w/ Uplifted Eyes, Something Else?
5 | What was the answer to the prayer?
6 | How is God addressed and/or described?
7 | What did you learn about how you can pray today?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
