Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Hebrews 12:1-2. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Hebrews 9 (Going Deeper: Leviticus 16:1-19 & 1 Timothy 2:5-6)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Have you ever felt like you wished you could do more? Or maybe like you “should” do more? We often think that just because something is simple, that it’s not enough. Humans have been making things harder than they have to be for thousands of years. It might sound crazy, but we actually do this when it comes to God too. There’s a word for this “making things harder…” Religion. And there always seems to be a pull toward it (and away from God) in our souls. In today’s reading, the writer explains that what formerly had to be done “repeatedly” (see verse 6) or even annually "(verse 7) had now been completed “once and for all” (verse 12) in Jesus. The funny thing is, the more we do and the harder we try to clean our conscience, the more we find it doesn’t work. You don’t need to add to what Jesus has already done. You can’t. There’s no amount of Hail Mary’s, good deeds, positive vibes, or personal punishments that can add to what Jesus, our high priest, has already done for us. Jesus isn’t less - He’s so much more. His sacrifice for you is sufficient. Let it be.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
TALK. That was our take on today’s reading - what’s yours? Share thoughts and ask questions in the forum.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
