Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Hebrews 12:1-2. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Hebrews 4:14-16 & 5:1-10 (Going Deeper: Psalm 110 & Matthew 4:1-11)
THINK. A Thought from Holly MacDonald…
To the Jews, being a priest was the highest religious authority in the land. The priests had certain tasks that were required of them such as offering gifts and sacrifices for sins, teaching the law, and representing the people in matters relating to God. They were the intercessor between the people and God. In today’s reading, the book of Hebrews establishes Jesus as the highest priest! The only priest who is called great, ascended into heaven, who empathizes with our weakness, who is without sin, and who is the Son of God! Jesus is now our great intercessor, the One who paved a path for us to go to the Father. We now have an invitation ourselves, to “draw near to the throne of grace”. We do not have to wait, hesitate, or proceed cautiously rather, because Jesus’ priesthood is established, we can come with confidence, boldly, constantly, and freely to the Father. Like Hebrews 4:16 says, we can come to the throne to receive mercy and grace in our time of need. Where do you need God’s mercy and grace today? Run to the Father this morning with your needs. He’s waiting to help you!
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
TALK. That was our take on today’s reading - what’s yours? Share thoughts and ask questions in the forum.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
