Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Leviticus 20:26. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Leviticus 25 & 26:1-12 (Going Deeper: Deuteronomy 4:5-8 & James 1:25)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
In most every good love story, one question lies at the heart of it: “So, who made the first move?” As we near the end of Leviticus, a book full of laws that we are to obey, it’s important to remember that our obedience (aka worship) is always a response to God. To put it another way, our relationship with God doesn’t start with what we do (aka earning) - but what God has done . Or yet another, we don’t act - we react. That’s why God reminds us in Leviticus 25:38 & 26:12 - He made the first move. We don’t have to earn God’s love and blessing. We simply receive it and respond to it. Jubilee is a recognition of this very fact - a built in “reset.” So that no one ever gets defined by what they’ve done or earned. But by what God has done. Today, we may not need these same sacrifices and laws to experience God’s presence, but because of Jesus, we are given the Holy Spirit who helps us respond in daily obedience to God and His Word. This is the pattern of the New Testament letters (check out Romans 12:1). Because of what God has done, this is what we do. Jesus died as our sacrifice, so we offer ourselves as living sacrifices.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
SHARE. Stay focused with a friend! Invite them to text “FOCUS” to (586) 200-6277.
Stay focused on Jesus today, and make it a great one!
