Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists & let it play in the background.
FOCUS. Breathe in & out slowly. Pray, Through Jesus’ resurrection, I have hope today.
THANK. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Read Acts 13:16-38. Focus on one truth about who God is & thank Him for it.
PRAY.
Pray the Lord’s Prayer, a Ripple Prayer, or find more at paradoxchurch.com/pray.
READ.
Our Scripture Focus is 1 Peter 1:3-4. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Luke 24:13-32.
ASK. After reading, ask the following SOS Questions & journal your thoughts.
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
THINK. A Thought (or two) from Pastor Mike
I dislike confusion, ambiguity, and discord. I much prefer clarity, focus, and unity. I’m pretty sure God agrees. In today’s reading, Cleopas and some unnamed other guy are arguing about the events that just took place around Jesus’ death. It is into this argument that Jesus enters the scene. It was important to Jesus that these fellas were on the same page; clear on who he was, why he must die, and the significance of his resurrection. Fusion is the process of joining two or more things together. We serve a God of fusion, not confusion.
Bonus thought…I LOVE the last verse in this passage. Once these dudes realized their guest was indeed Jesus, they said “Weren’t our hearts burning within us while he was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?” My take away: when God speaks to us, it resonates with us on our deepest level, our spirit. Like sheep recognizing their shepherd’s voice, our spirit hears God’s voice through scripture and feels his presence.
TALK. That was our take - what’s yours? Share thoughts & ask questions in the forum.
