WORSHIP FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Worship can be as simple as thanking God for who He is & what He does. (Psalm 100:4)
1. Start out by writing or saying out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for.
2. Play or sing some worship music you love, or use this Christmas Worship Playlist.

SCRIPTURE FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Pray a simple prayer before reading, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.
(John 14:26)
Today’s reading is from Matthew 2 & Isaiah 60:1-3
Highlight verses that capture your attention, and ask three simple questions as you read…
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
One of the best ways to learn more about the Bible is by discussing it with others.
Work through this week’s Discussion Guide and meet up with a Paradox Lifegroup.

A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
Reading these passages from Isaiah today, I am reminded of many things that take up my time and energy, the challenges in my life that seem that they will last forever. I am reminded of the times that I have cried out to the Lord for help, the times I've had to wait on God. Times that have seemed to last forever, or where it seemed like he may never show up. But then, Jesus came. He saved me. He broke through the places where I needed Him. Then I read Matthew 2 - that despite Herod's thoughts about how important his own kingdom was, despite how he did SO MANY THINGS to thwart God's plans... he didn't succeed. The true, Eternal King DID come. He rules and reigns even now! God's Kingdom is the only kingdom that lasts; the only kingdom that wins and has real victory. I know in my own life, I have many of my own kingdoms that God has slowly and faithfully revealed to me and invited me to surrender to Him. He wants me to participate in His kingdom instead of creating my own. So today, instead of fighting so hard for our own kingdom; let's ask the Lord a few questions…
Father, In what ways do I need to cry out to you; trusting that you will come and save me?
Jesus, What are the ways I am trying to thwart your plans? (You may not even realize you're doing this.)
Holy Spirit, What are the kingdoms in my own life that I have created? How are you inviting me to let them go, so that I can join your Kingdom?

PRAYER FOCUS |
5-15 Minutes
Prayer is a conversation that involves both talking and listening to God.
If you’re just starting out, practice hearing from God by asking questions like, “Father, what do you want me to know about you?” or “Father, what do you want to say about your love for me?” Simply be still and listen, or journal anything that comes to mind. Learn more about hearing from God using the Tending Your Heart guide.
