Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Revelation 1:8. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from Genesis 14:17-20, Psalm 110:1-4, Matthew 21:1-9, Hebrews 7:1-3, 11-28, Romans 10:4-13, & Titus 2:11-14
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
In today’s reading, Jesus is described as both a priest and a king - two things that don’t normally go together, especially in American culture. A priest handles spiritual, “heavenly” things, whereas a king typically is more concerned with tangible, “earthly” matters. A priest is one we look to for help in our relationship with God, while we look to a king to govern relationships with other people. Although common in ancient times, our modern mind scoffs at the idea of king who claims divinity, while our western culture keeps church and state separate. All that to say, we’re used to compartmentalizing. We have spiritual things, and we have “practical” things. Church life, family life, work life, etc. And yet, Jesus integrates what we separate. He came to bridge every gap and tear down every divide. The kingdom of God is one where Jesus reigns as both priest AND king, forever. We live in His kingdom today not simply in “spiritual” things, but practical ones too. Because Jesus is an integrated, priestly king, life as citizens in His kingdom is integrated. Have you received Jesus as your priestly king - the one who makes living in a good and right relationship with God AND people possible? Do you need Jesus to be your high priest today? Are there things you need to submit to His lordship as your king?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
TALK. That was our take on today’s reading - what’s yours? Share thoughts and ask questions in the forum.
