THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Jesus says, “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:44-45). Amos 5:15 reads, “Hate evil and love good.” One of the profound characteristics of a maturing follower of Jesus is a desire to live in the tension of hating evil while loving your enemies. In a way, this is the heart of the gospel: Jesus came carrying an unwavering disdain for the sin at work in us while maintaining an unwavering love for us. We are called to remain faithful and truthful, keeping company with those who are reliable (Proverbs 25:19). Who are some of the faithful people in your life?
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
