Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
THANK. Write down 3-5 things you’re thankful for in the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
READ. Our Scripture Focus is Ephesians 4:1-6. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 1 Timothy 2:1-4 & Matthew 6:5-15 (Go Deeper: Luke 18:1-8, Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Philippians 4:4-7, 1 John 5:14-15, Hebrews 4:14-16 & Romans 8:26-27)
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Just as the Spirit intercedes on our behalf, the Church is to pray with confidence for our own needs, as well as the needs of other believers and the world. On this Independence Day, declare our dependence on God by praying for our country (regardless of how you might feel about it right now). In almost every case, Christians are called to very simple instructions regarding governing authorities: obey and pray for those God has placed in authority. As those who are in relationship with a good and just God, Christians are also called to pray and stand against injustice. Throughout the Old Testament, God gave instructions on the just and merciful treatment of those belonging to the most disempowered groups in society - the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, the enslaved, and those with limited rights or who were oppressed. In the New Testament, Jesus ministered to these marginalized people across different categories, whether foreigners, disenfranchised social groups, or those suffering from illness or physical limitation. As followers of Christ, we are called to follow this example, showing special care and protection for the most vulnerable members of society. On this day, pray for our country, leaders, enemies, the marginalized, and the Church in America.
LIVE. One practical way to understand and apply the Bible is the SOS method. Ask…
S: What does this passage say about God, and what does it say about me?
O: What am I being invited to obey?
S: What can I share with those around me?
PRAY. Pray for yourself, a family member, a lifegroup/church friend, someone who doesn’t know Jesus, and the nations. Pick one each day or pray through them all every day.
