THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
It started with David staying back from battle. The path of sin would lead David lower and lower to lust, adultery, a scandalous cover-up, abuse of his authority, and ultimately murder. Scripture is clear in James 1:15 - desire gives birth to sin, which leads to death. This was the path that David chose - and that path that we all choose too. Though common, this would be a fairly short (and depressing) focus without the hope of Jesus. The tragedy of David’s sin led to death, but it would also bring new life. Solomon would one day become king, build a temple to God, and eventually lead to the birth of Jesus. The true, forever king who did what he said he would do - rebuild God’s temple in three days - when he died and rose again. The path of Jesus’ life led to the lowest of lows - leaving heaven, born to a poor family in an obscure town, hated and rejected, betrayed by his friends, beaten, humiliated, and killed as a criminal. But in Jesus, God was bringing hope from the lowest of lows. God was bringing new life from death. He did it for David. He did it in Jesus. And He’ll do it for you.
Bring your hopelessness, your loss, your suffering, and your sin to Jesus today. Repent, like David, and ask God to bring new life to you in your circumstance and for all of eternity.
