THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
Today’s scripture begins with a jarring statement - “Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord!” Really? Thought we were supposed to be longing for that… but it is followed by a haunting question. “What will the day of the Lord be for you? We often think of justice as being for others. Jesus returning to make the world right again - which is almost certainly where we are. In the right. The rest of today’s reading goes on to say that God isn’t after appearances, empty sacrifices, or religious activity. God doesn’t care that the first spot on your radio dial was Christian radio or “positive hits.” Justice. Righteousness. Remember what those two are? Righteousness - a right heart and relationship with God that expresses itself in living rightly, including justice - doing right by others. Remember God’s invitation to seek Him today and live. In light of that, invite the Holy Spirit to show you the places of safety in righteousness and justice as you reflect on that question - what will the day of the Lord be for you?
