FOCUS. Breathe in & out slowly. Pray, Through Jesus’ resurrection, I have hope today.
THANK. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
WORSHIP. Read Deuteronomy 31:6, Hebrews 7:26-27 & Hebrews 10:11-14. Focus on one truth about who God is & thank Him for it.
PRAY. Pray the Lord’s Prayer, a Ripple Prayer, or find more at paradoxchurch.com/pray.
READ. Today’s reading is from Matthew 28:16-20 & Acts 1:1-11
ASK. After reading, ask the following SOS Questions & journal your thoughts.
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave
Whenever Gwyn and I leave our kids, we put someone in charge and give directions before we go. In order for the night to go well, the directions must be remembered and followed. We hope that our babysitter will not only remember our directions, but follow them - and remind our kids of what we said. Just before Jesus left earth, Jesus gave us direction - go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey my commandments. As we go, we have three things to remember… First, remember whose authority you’re doing this on. In Acts 1:4-5, the disciples were to wait for the signal, for God’s direction. When you have authority, you have confidence - which is important to remember on this mission. You are doing what GOD said to do. Second, remember whose mission you’re on. In Acts 1:6, the disciples got confused or distracted (again!) about that. Stay focused on God’s mission, not your political, financial, social, or personal one. And finally, remember who is with you. Acts 1:8 says that you’ll receive power from the Holy Spirit when you go on God’s mission. Don’t just stand around waiting! If you want to be in God’s presence and experience God’s power, get out there on God’s purpose - that’s where He is!
