Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
ENTER. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
FOCUS. Slowly breathe in… and out. Pray, Jesus, I surrender to you today and trust in you.
READ.
Our Scripture Focus is 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 2 Chronicles 1-2 & John 15:4-7
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Is there too much of a good thing? 2 Chronicles opens with David’s son, Solomon, on the throne. One of the first things Solomon does is go to the “high place” to worship God and offer sacrifices to Him. But this was no passing moment or ceremonial nod… Solomon offered 1,000 sacrifices to God. I mean… 2 seems like double what was necessary. 10 seems excessive. But 1,000? Seems like literal overkill. But Solomon’s worship moved the heart of God. That very night, God seems to respond to Solomon (and I’m taking some creative liberty here), “Solomon, you’ve given me so much! Now, what can I give YOU?” Often, our worship is dependent upon what God gives us. But Solomon gives to God first. Generously. Abundantly. Radically. Excessively… only to find that you can’t out-give God. Solomon acknowledges that everything he has is from God, and simply asks for wisdom to lead them well. In essence (again creative liberty), Solomon responds, “You’ve given me everything. People. Power. I’m giving them back to you, God. Help me do this well. For you.” Prayer is always the place where what’s really in your heart comes out. And because all Solomon wanted was more of God, God gave him everything else too. Generously. Abundantly. Radically. Excessively. When it comes to our God, there’s never too much of a good thing. Today, surrender anything you might desire more than God in your time of prayer. Seek Him first, and remember, you can’t out-give God.
