Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
Pick a song from one of our Spotify Playlists and let it play in the background.
ENTER. Write down or say out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for from the last 24 hours.
FOCUS. Slowly breathe in… and out. Pray, Jesus, I surrender to you today and trust in you.
READ.
Our Scripture Focus is 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. Try memorizing it during this study!
Today’s reading is from 1 Chronicles 18-20 & Psalm 110:1-3
THINK. A Thought from Pastor Dave…
Early in today’s reading, the screen gets pulled back to give us a glimpse of what is going on “behind the scenes.” To the onlooker, David was a mighty warrior who was piling up victories, success, and expanding his reign. But 1 Chronicles 18:6 tells us why… the Lord made David victorious wherever he went. Why did God give David victory and increase his reign on the earth? Look what David did with it. David wasn’t out for power. He wasn’t looking to get rich and famous. He didn’t care about making his name known. Verse 11 of the same chapter says that whenever gold, silver, and bronze were brought to David or they were won in battle, he dedicated these to the Lord. So, again in verse 13… the Lord made David victorious wherever he went. God wins the battles and gives David power, fame, and riches. David gives it all back to God. God gives David people and a nation to rule over. As verse 14 says, David does it with justice and righteousness. Justice is doing what is right by people. Righteousness is doing what is right by God. God gives, David gives it all back. God gives more. You can’t outgive God! Whenever and whatever God gives, David gives back to God. In fact, you could say that was the reason David had it in the first place. David reigned because he gave the reigns back to God. Is God the king of your heart today? As you reflect on the relationship David had with God, what victory, riches, or people might you dedicate back to God, who gave it in the first place? Try praying 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 as a prayer of dedication over anything that comes to mind.
