Good Morning!
Let’s focus our day by spending some time with Jesus before it begins.
If you’re new to the Daily Focus, read this first.
WORSHIP FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Worship can be as simple as thanking God for who He is & what He does. (Psalm 100:4)
1. Start out by writing or saying out loud 3-5 things you’re thankful for.
2. Play or sing some worship music you love, or use one from Paradox on Spotify.
SCRIPTURE FOCUS | 5-15 Minutes
Pray a simple prayer before reading, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth. (John 14:26)
Today’s reading is from Revelation 11:15-17, Revelation 21:1-11, 22-27 & Revelation 22:1-17
Highlight verses that capture your attention, and ask three simple questions as you read…
S = Say. What is the main point? What does it teach about God (Jesus) & yourself?
O = Obey. What can you apply (practice) from this passage today?
S = Share. Who can you share what you’re learning with today?
A THOUGHT FROM TODAY’S READING…
I’ve been a follower of Jesus for a long time, and as such, I’ve had a while to think about heaven and what it will be like. I’ve run the gamut of various ideas…at times thinking it would be like a wonderland where I would spend eons with friends learning and trying new things, to a more etherial experience of connecting just with God in a state of bliss for eternity. One thing struck me today as I was reading from Revelation. It’s not so much a new thought as I feel God emphasized something as I was reading: people will be there. If you don’t like the idea of being around other people for eternity, you better start warming up to it. Good news though…God will be with us directly as our leader/father/provider/teacher/comforter/etc/etc. And, all the people there will be cool with that. The faithless, detestable, murderers, liars, etc will have no place there with us because they will not want to be of this selfless NEW thing that God will bring about where our focus will be each other and following Jesus. While heaven, this new utopia (newtopia?), is till out of our reach, we can live NOW as PRACTICE for what is to come. We still need the physical sun to light and warn us, but what if we did more to acknowledged and share the SON who will do that in heaven? We can’t live perfectly, but what if we were more intentional about following the promptings of the Holy Spirit? I believe if we do these God-focused things now, we will be well positioned to enjoy the God-centered society we will someday be a part of. - Mike Nank
